I was given a Nikon EM last year, upon which was mounted a 28mm f/2.8 Tokina EL lens. The EM leaked light, but the Tokina performed well. Third-party lenses are more likely to be mediocre, in my experience. But once in a while one will impress, like this Tokina.
Not long ago I wanted to give it another outing, so I mounted it to my Nikon F3. I loaded Fujicolor 200 and set the camera to EI 100.
This lens performs with no distortion that I can see.

Fujicolor 200 looks best at EI 100, I think. The Tokina lens let all of that good color come right through.

The lens rendered excellent sharpness and detail.

A lens this wide lends dramatic perspective to mundane subjects.

I don’t need to own a comparable Nikon lens. I’m good with this Tokina.
