I can’t remember the last time I saw a Men Working sign. It might have been the 1990s. They’ve all been replaced with signs that say simply Workers.

I’m a fan of making things like this not gender specific. I don’t see too many women in work crews, but I do see some.

The town is replacing sections of sidewalk in my neighborhood where they’re not even with adjoining sections. I’ve never seen a town do anything like this before. Frankly, it seems wasteful. Most of the uneven sidewalk was a matter of a quarter to a half inch. I can’t imagine anyone tripping over that. But in this, the wealthiest suburb in Indiana, with its huge tax base, I guess you can perfect your sidewalks when you want to.

By the way, the sign isn’t lying. Everyone on the crew is male.
