Looking for that perfect seasoning blend for seafood? You’ve found it here with this seafood seasoning! The perfect blend of smokey, savory, and aromatic.

What Is Seafood Seasoning?

Seafood seasoning is the perfect blend of numerous spices combined to give the ultimate seasoning for fish and other seafood! It’s smokey, savory, and very aromatic to bring a punch of flavor to mild flavors of seafood. Truthfully, it’s not just for fish and seafood. I’ve used this seafood seasoning on roasted and grilled vegetables and it’s really tasty!

It’s similar to Cajun seasoning (but without the spice) and also blackening seasoning. I wouldn’t say it’s like fajita seasoning though as that blend has a prominent amount of chili powder.

How to Make Seafood Seasoning

All you have to do to make this seasoning blend is whisk together the following spices:

  • Smoked paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Dried thyme
  • Dried basil
  • Celery seed
  • Kosher salt
  • Ground cumin
  • Ground clove
  • Dill weed

How to Store It and For How Long

Ideally, you want to store seafood seasoning in an airtight container for up to 6 months to 1 year in a cool dry place. It doesn’t necessarily “go bad” as how food goes bad, but rather, the spices tend to lose their potency. These are my favorite jars to use for my homemade spice blends and I’ve also bought these containers and printed off labels for them as well.

Ways to Use Seafood Seasoning

There are so many ways to use this seasoning blend. Here are some ideas for you!

  • Fish: Cod and haddock are both very mild flavored fish that you could definitely use a little bit of the seasoning for. For example, in this panko parmesan cod recipe, you can add 1/2 a teaspoon of this seasfood seasoning to the topping.
  • Salmon: I love grilled salmon and this spice blend is perfect for grilling salmon! It would also go great sprinkled into the salmon mixture for these salmon burgers.
  • Shrimp: Grilled shrimp like these shrimp kabobs and shrimp skewers would be so delicious with the shrimp being tossed in this seasoning!
  • Corn: After your corn is finished cooking, sprinkle this seasoning on top of the butter you’re slathering on the corn. Or, this would be SO good in Mexican street corn or corn dip.
