All the purple

It’s a nice problem to have, but my film shelf is full in the freezer. I hoarded Fujifilm color negative film last year as the big-box store near me kept getting it at a price lower than I was seeing anywhere. A couple of people sent me out-of-production film from their personal stashes for me to try. And Analogue Wonderland has been supplying me with Ilford HP5 Plus and FP4 Plus in trade for mentions here. Film has come in far faster than it’s been going out.

It’s a nice problem to have, but I’ve put a moratorium on film acquisition while I clear out my freezer.

I was also getting ready to finally review the Pentax 645 that’s been on loan here for more than a year now.

I combined these two initiatives by putting my last roll of Fujifilm Velvia 50 through the 645. Here are the photos that turned out best. The rest were underexposed, and because of the film’s shallow exposure latitude, there wasn’t anything I could do to rescue them.

The Velvia had been in my freezer for many years — I think I brought it to this house when I moved to it in 2017. Well past time to use it.
